Beauty Box 5 March Box Reveal

Image
I really dig getting myself  Beauty Box 5 boxes. It's a monthly gift for just being me. $10 gets this little present in my mailbox each month. There are four to five specially selected beauty items to try in each box. This month's was very exciting! I have not had a chance to try all the products, but I am very excited about each of them: Lavera Mango Milk Hair Repair Treatment - A natural deep conditioning hair treatment. I admit, I need it. Lavera True Natural Advanced Lift & Firm Serum - An anti-aging serum that restores suppleness and moisturizes. I have been trying to find that 'fountain of youth' in a bottle, so I am always glad to try these products. pur-lisse pur-delicate - Delicate makeup remover & facial cleanser. I have a bad habit of sleeping in my makeup... I should stop that. This might help. BECCA Eye Tint - Long-lasting eye tint. A base for powder eye colors. I've been experimenting with makeup techniqu

Review - Kiss Nail Dress

Image
A fun item in my  Influenster  complimentary Love Vox Box try was  Kiss Nail Dress . I will admit that I was a bit apprehensive about trying it out. On the sheet, it looked a bit too blingy for my tastes. I was also mistakenly under the impression that it would take longer than it did. I had a few minutes last night set aside to try this product out, but had to do my toes because a prior commitment of becoming period-correct peasant wench. Turns out, peasants didn't wear a lot of bling or nail polish in the 16th century. Harley Quinn was quick to offer up her fingernails to test. So, we both removed the polish off our digits and read the instructions. I was given Cocktail: pink zebra-stripe with silver bling along the stripes. On the sheet, it was very blingy. However, however on our nails, it was toned down a bit. Some of the stripes were clear, so I would be able to choose a nail color to use as a background. I used  Kiss Nail Dress  on clean, unpolished nails. It took al

Review: Truvía® natural sweetener

Image
Every morning... so often in fact, I don't remember doing it half the time... I start a pot of coffee. Pour a cup. Open four of those little pink sweetener packets. Add a splash of milk. Then I can face the day. I've always been iffy on the sweetener, however. Maybe scarring from when I read 'tested on lab mice' on the packets when I was a child. Who knows. So, when  Influenster  offered a complimentary sample of  Truvia Natural Sweetener  in their Love Vox Box, I thought this might be the opportunity to drink my coffee without worrying about an ear sprouting up on the my back. (Who doesn't get that mental picture when you hear about lab testing on mice? Is it just me?) Yesterday morning, I remember waking up, getting the kids up and walking the dogs, and amazingly somewhere in there I started the pot of coffee. I grabbed my box of  Truvia  and drug butt over to the table. Poured the cup. Opened four packets of  Truvia . Added a splash of milk. Sipped. Wow, it w

Ever Growing List of Projects in Need of an Ever Growing List of Odd Supplies

Image
Yep, it's that bad. So, many ideas, so little time, but an insane drive to do them and a need for supplies. Of course, being that I don't ever seem to do anything conventionally (ask anyone), here is the oddball, continually growing list of odds and ends that I am looking for:           • broken and unwanted dolls (not cloth)           •   roadkill, preferably hit or tossed not squished                                (carry plastic bags & gloves)           •   bowling balls           •   beads           •   colored glass (broken is fine as long as in large chunks)           •   broken jewelry (I'm not fancy, anything will do)           •   old birdhouses           •   broken windchimes           •   broken globes           •   any odd charms, bobbles or trinkets (see pic)           •   large jars           •   barbie dolls Keep checking back, as this list will grow! If you run across anything odd and wonder if it is something that I might be interested in, don't

Review: Gillette Venus & Olay Razor

Image
I am always apprehensive about using new razors. My skin is very sensitive on every point of my body. However, when I had the opportunity to try out the new  Gillette Venus & Olay Razor  through  Influenster 's Love VoxBox program for free, I jumped on it. I had to wait a couple of days to get nice and hairy... I do it for you... as I had just shaved. The weather was nice, give me a break. So, when I was good and sasquatchy, I lit a candle, dimmed the lights, ran a nice hot bath and ripped open my new  Gillette Venus & Olay Razor . This thing rocks! After skin prep with only body wash and no shaving cream, it glided across my legs with very little effort. The only thing better would to have someone else do it for me... they might look into it, but packaging might be a bit difficult. The whole shaving process was quick and I had very little worry about nicks (a huge fear of mine.) Just between you and me, I even went higher on my legs than I usually do. I'm so naught

Movie Review: Silent House (2011)

Image
I am far from a 'professional' critic, and I have really no bearing on whether or not one should see a movie, however, I thought I'd start posting movie reviews... unsolicited. This past Friday, I took the day off to hang out with the kiddos. Harley Quinn wanted to see Silent House with Elizabeth Olsen ... I believe she is the younger sister of the Olsen twins for those who enjoy useless trivia. Not going to get technical, because honestly who cares? Most of those overly 'look at the information I know' reviews just make the reviewers look like pompous asses. So, I grabbed my newly won free passes for Studio Movie Grill , threw the kids in the car and headed to the movies. After much arguing with Amber about the genre choice (she hates scary movies), I plied her with a frozen hot chocolate and we found our seats. Now for the review part: I liked it for it's artsy cinematography. There were some really creatively shot scenes. Ms. Olsen is a very fun actres

Big Weekend

I have a very full weekend planned. Ordering  Dermestid Beetles . HQ is very excited about this endeavor. Working with  Pinky Diablo  on animal preservation and harvesting for projects. Still tons of Girl Scout goings on... will be throughout the month. Participating in the season's last cookie booth and cookie money is due, so I will be busting derriere getting cookies delivered and money accounted for. Product reviews. I have a few that I am behind on for  Influenster . I need to get on that. I will be doing video, or at least trying my hand at it. I've also lucked into reviewing a product that I am very excited about:  Eraselets . I have a package on it's way to me and will be posting a review a bit later. They are currently in the running to  get on the shelf at Walmart . I really like the potential of this product! Of course, the hum drum housecleaning and straightening. I've been neglecting... I own it. Taking tomorrow off to be with my kiddos on their l
